PBT and PET Material Parts
PBT and PET are thermoplastic polyester materials used for custom injection molded plastic parts, functional components, electrical parts, automotive components, connectors, housings, covers, brackets, gears, and industrial plastic parts.
Yinuo Mold supports PBT and PET material review, injection mold design, plastic injection molding, prototype review, low-volume production, and mass production based on customer drawings, 3D files, material requirements, tolerance needs, surface finish requirements, and application conditions.
What Are PBT and PET Materials?
PBT, or polybutylene terephthalate, is an engineering plastic commonly used when a part requires dimensional stability, electrical insulation, heat resistance, chemical resistance, and stable molding performance.
PET, or polyethylene terephthalate, is also a polyester material. It can be used for molded plastic parts that require strength, stiffness, chemical resistance, and stable performance. In some applications, PET may also be associated with PET preform molds or packaging-related injection molding, so the exact project scope should be reviewed before quotation.
Advantages of PBT and PET Parts
- Good dimensional stability
- Good electrical insulation performance
- Good heat resistance depending on material grade
- Good chemical resistance
- Suitable for precision injection molded parts
- Available in reinforced grades for improved strength and stiffness
- Suitable for automotive, electrical, appliance, and industrial applications
PBT Injection Molding
PBT injection molding is widely used for electrical connectors, switch components, motor parts, automotive plastic parts, appliance components, housings, brackets, and precision functional plastic components.
For PBT injection molding projects, mold design should consider material shrinkage, glass fiber reinforcement, wall thickness, gate location, cooling design, parting line, draft angle, warpage risk, and final assembly requirements.
PET Injection Molding
PET injection molding can be used for custom plastic parts that require strength, stiffness, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability. PET material selection should be reviewed according to product structure, molding conditions, surface finish, tolerance needs, and application environment.
If the project refers to PET mould for bottle preforms or packaging-related parts, the tooling requirement should be confirmed separately because PET preform molds have different design and production requirements from general plastic injection molds.
PBT and PET Mold Design Considerations
For PBT and PET mold projects, important design factors include material grade, shrinkage, wall thickness, rib structure, gate position, cooling system, ejector layout, parting line, surface texture, and assembly requirements.
For reinforced PBT or PET materials, glass fiber orientation, warpage control, surface appearance, and dimensional stability should be reviewed carefully before mold making.

PBT vs PET Material Selection
PBT and PET are both polyester-based plastics, but they may perform differently in molding behavior, crystallization, heat resistance, dimensional stability, surface finish, and application suitability.
PBT is often used for precision electrical and automotive components. PET can be used for selected molded parts, but the material grade and molding process should be reviewed according to part design and production requirements.
